I have always loved helping others. After earning my undergraduate degree in social work at Colorado State University, I pursued a career in business and volunteered in my spare time. When I no longer felt like I was helping people as I desired, I decided to go back to school. I earned dual master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling in December of 2019 from the University of Northern Colorado.
After graduating, I was a school counselor in elementary schools and a high school. Although I loved working with students in schools, I decided to shift my career to focus on my passion for clinical mental health counseling
As a parent, I have a particular space in my heart for young people and their struggles, as well as parents, other individuals that support them, and families. My goal is to help individuals and families navigate their journey and discover barriers that are in the way of them realizing their dreams, all in a collaborative environment.
I believe that each person and situation should be approached individually. In order to serve and help my clients the best way possible, I listen and adapt therapy to match their style of learning, thinking, and communicating, and focus on each specific client’s needs. Although my style is eclectic, there are some therapies that I tend to use more often than others, which include Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness.
I have lived most of my life in Northern Colorado and love the outdoors. I enjoy cycling, driving my mini cooper convertible, and going to car shows with my family. My husband and I spend a lot of time playing fetch with our chocolate labs, Kei and Kona. Although they live on their own, we also spend as much time as we can with our three kids and two grandkids. Living here, we love to cheer for the Denver Broncos and Colorado Avalanche.
“ Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery, and Today is a Gift. That is why they call it the Present.” I am truly blessed to be a counselor, be a part of growth and change, and unwrapping the gift with my clients.
