Hello! I am Jaydan Bruna a Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate moving to Fort Collins from Kansas! Speaking of which I was born and raised in a small rural Kansas town of roughly 600 people and this experience lead me toward the path of a helping profession. Not only are values of hard-work and discipline important in small communities but altruism and respect are also at the top of the list. This led me to pursue my Bachelor’s degree in psychology and Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, both of which I obtained at Kansas State University (Go Cats).
My program at Kansas State University focused on a systemic approach to therapy and the individuals/systems involved. I personally work with clients to see how the problem is affecting them and not how the client and the problem are one in the same. I work from a variety of theories/models including Narrative, Mindfulness, Emotionally Focused, Solution Focused, and Experiential Therapy. I work extremely hard to get to know my clients and see each of them and their experiences as unique, for me there is no one-size-fits all therapy and sessions are tailored to the specific client or system in an open and respectful manner. I firmly believe the client is the expert of their own life and see myself as someone to offer new perspective and help guide exploration into process and solutions. I work with couples (married and not married), families, and individuals on a variety of issues from communication issues, infidelity, trauma, anxiety, depression, to name a few.
In my free time I am most likely outdoors either hunting, fishing, hiking, or swimming. If I am not doing one of those things, I am probably playing video games or spending time with my dog Arya.
I look forward to meeting you and getting to help you work through, process, and achieve your goals with whatever you are facing!
