Hello! I’m glad you stopped by, perhaps while attempting to find a “good fit” for your therapy needs.
I earned my Bachelor in Social Work degree in 1998 from the University of Wyoming and my Master of Social Work degree in 2018 from The University of New England. Since earning my first degree, I have worked with a variety of populations including people living with developmental disabilities, families living in poverty, adolescents with substance use and behavioral issues, the aging population, adults and adolescents struggling with anxiety and depression, families confronted with hospice and grief, children in foster care situations, and LDS adolescents. My role in these situations varied between educator, case manager, mentor, and therapist.
I practice from a cognitive behavioral stance, believing that our own thoughts are powerful and influence greatly how we feel and behave. By learning new thinking skills and patterns, increasing self-confidence and self-worth, and improving self-awareness, many daily struggles can be minimized if not completely disappear. I use strength based approaches, fully believing that everyone has abilities, talents, and supports that can be utilized to enhance their mental and physical health.
On a more personal side, I am married with four children spanning from age 6 to 21. We have many pets, most of which I am allergic to, but we keep them around because they are great cuddle partners. I try to garden, but seem to be inept in nurturing most plants. I love holidays, snow, the color purple, and eggnog!
